First, what is gone

The federal rebates have closed.

  • Canada Greener Homes Grant — closed to new applications 27 February 2024
  • Canada Greener Homes Loan — closed 1 October 2025
  • City of Edmonton HERA — reported fully subscribed since November 2022

You will still find Edmonton window companies advertising the $5,000 Greener Homes grant. It is not available. If a quote you receive elsewhere assumes that rebate, the number at the bottom is wrong.

Clean Energy Improvement Program

Financing attached to the property rather than to you. You repay it through the property tax bill, and if you sell before it is paid off, the balance and the improvement both go to the new owner.

Edmonton requires triple-pane or better glazing to qualify. That is the specification we recommend for this climate anyway, so for most projects it confirms the choice rather than forcing it.

Status as at 31 July 2026: nearing capacity — new pre-qualifications are waitlisted, first come first served. Also active in Spruce Grove and Leduc.

Dealer financing

We are arranging point-of-sale monthly payments. It is not in place yet, and we would rather say that than list a route you cannot actually take today.

When it is arranged this page will say who provides it and on what terms. Until then, CEIP is the financing we can point you at, and paying directly is the other option.

Financing questions

Is the Canada Greener Homes Grant still available?

No. The grant closed to new applications in February 2024 and the loan closed in October 2025. Any company still advertising them is advertising a programme you cannot join.

What replaced it?

A programme called CGHAP, which is limited to low-to-median income households and delivered as direct-install retrofits. It is not a rebate a contractor can put toward your quote.

What is CEIP, in one sentence?

City of Edmonton financing for energy-efficiency upgrades that you repay through your property tax bill at a fixed 6.00% over up to 20 years, and which transfers to the next owner if you sell.

Why would a contractor not tell me about CEIP?

Because it pays them nothing, and it is slower than putting you on a finance company paper trail. We would rather you knew it existed.

Can I use CEIP right now?

Possibly not immediately. As at 31 July 2026, Edmonton residential CEIP is nearing capacity — new pre-qualifications are waitlisted, first come first served. We will tell you where the queue stands rather than let you plan around it.

Do you offer your own financing?

Not yet. We are arranging point-of-sale monthly payments, and we will say so here when it is in place rather than before. Today CEIP is the financing route we can point you at.

Do you mark up the financing?

No. The price of the work is the price of the work, whether you pay cash or use CEIP.
