What's included
What the job covers, and what it leaves out.
We price a project after we have measured it, because that is the only way the number is worth anything. What we can tell you now is exactly what a quote from us does and does not cover.
How you get your number
Three steps, no appointment needed to start, and nothing to pay at any point in them.
- 01
Tell us what you need
A phone call, or the estimate form — which asks three things: whether you want new units, a repair, or installation only, plus a number and an email. Under a minute, and we work out the detail when we call you back.
- 02
We measure
We come out, measure every opening, and look at what is actually behind the trim. No charge, no obligation, and no manager who calls afterwards with a better offer.
- 03
You get it in writing
An itemised price by email, with the exclusions listed as their own section rather than implied. It does not expire, and you do not have to decide while we are standing there.
Start with the measure.
The part that is usually unsaid
What the price does not cover.
Surprise pricing is the most common complaint in this trade. It is almost never outright dishonesty — it is a quote that was silent about the edges. Ours is not.
- Rot and structural repair
- Nobody knows what is behind the trim until the old unit is out. If we find rot in the sill or framing, we stop, show you, and price the repair separately before continuing.
- Interior finishing beyond the opening
- We return the opening to the condition we found it. Repainting a whole wall, replacing casing to match a different profile, or drywall work past the frame is not in the number.
- Permits
- Standard replacement in an existing opening does not need one. Enlarging an opening or cutting the foundation for egress does, and the City of Edmonton fee is yours, at cost.
- Disposal beyond the units we remove
- We take away the old windows and doors and our own debris. Clearing an unrelated pile from the side of the house is not something we quietly add to the bill, or quietly do for free.
- Window coverings and alarm sensors
- Blinds, drapery hardware and security contacts come off before we start and go back on after. Re-fitting them is not our trade and we will say so rather than guess.
Your written quote lists the specific exclusions that apply to your house, not this general list. If something here does not apply to you, it will not be on your paperwork.
What moves the number
Six things, and none of them are a sales tactic.
- Opening size
- A picture window is more glass than a bedroom casement, and glass is most of the cost.
- Style
- Fixed units are cheaper than operating ones. Casement costs more than slider.
- Glazing
- Triple-pane costs more than double. We recommend it for this climate and CEIP requires it, but we fit both and you choose.
- Install type
- Insert into a sound frame is less work than a full frame-out to the studs.
- Access
- Second storey, or a unit that will not come out through the room, takes longer.
- Colour and finish
- Standard white is the base. Black and bronze exteriors cost more from the manufacturer.
How we sell
No countdown, no closing script.
- We do not cold-call and we do not knock on doors.
- A price that is good this week is good next week. There is no discount that expires tonight.
- The quote is written down and emailed. You do not have to decide while we are standing there.
- Alberta law gives you 10 days to cancel a prepaid contract after you receive your copy, for any reason. We print that on the quote.
Questions about cost
Why is there no price list on this website?
Because a figure on a web page is a guess about your house. Opening size, install type, access and finish move the number enough that a published range would be wrong for most people who read it. We would rather measure and give you a real number than have you plan around one we invented.
How do I find out what my project costs?
Call us or book an estimate. We come out, measure every opening, look at what is behind the trim, and send an itemised written price. There is no charge and no obligation, and nobody has to sit in your kitchen while you decide.
Is the quote binding?
The price for the scope on the quote is firm. If we open a wall and find rot, we stop and price that separately rather than absorbing it quietly or billing it as a surprise.
Do you charge for the estimate?
No. We measure, we quote in writing, and there is no charge and no obligation.
Can I change my mind after signing?
Yes. Alberta law gives you 10 days to cancel a prepaid contract after you receive your copy, for any reason. That is printed on our quote, not buried.
