    Measure

    About an hour

We come out, measure every opening, and look at what is behind the trim where we can. We ask what is actually bothering you — draft, condensation, operation, noise — because that changes what we recommend.

What we do not do We do not bring a price list, a tablet with a countdown on it, or a manager who calls with a better offer.

  2. 02

    Quote

    Within one business day

An itemised written price, emailed. Each opening listed separately, the product named, and the exclusions written down as their own section rather than implied in small print.

What we do not do We do not require you to sign while we are standing there, and the price does not expire.

  3. 03

    Install

One to three days for most homes

Our own crew. One opening at a time, and the house is closed up every night — you are never left with a hole in the wall overnight. We take the old units and our debris away.

What we do not do We do not subcontract the install to whoever is available that week.

  4. 04

    Stand behind it

    Ongoing

Workmanship warranty on our labour, manufacturer warranty on the product. Both explained before you sign, both in writing, and we are the ones who answer the phone if something needs adjusting.

What we do not do We do not hand you a warranty card and point you at the manufacturer.

Your position in law

Ten days, no reason required.

Alberta's Consumer Protection Act gives you the right to cancel a prepaid contracting agreement from the moment you sign until 10 days after you receive your copy. You do not have to justify it.

What has to be on the contract

  • Full names and addresses of both parties
  • Our telephone number
  • The date and place the contract was made
  • A detailed description of the materials and services
  • The completion date
  • A statement of your cancellation rights
  • Total price and terms of payment

These are legal requirements, not our policy. If a contract you are handed by anyone in this trade is missing them, that is worth noticing.

Questions about the process

Can I cancel after signing?

Yes. Alberta law gives you 10 days to cancel a prepaid contract after you receive your copy, for any reason, with no penalty. We print that on the quote rather than leaving you to find it.

Do you take a deposit?

Custom-sized product has to be ordered before it can be installed, so yes. Any Alberta business taking payment before work is complete must hold a prepaid contracting licence and be bonded by the province. Before paying a deposit to anyone in this trade, ask to see their licence and check it against the provincial register.

What happens if you find rot?

We stop, show you, photograph it, and price the repair separately before continuing. It does not appear as a line item you discover at the end.

How long from order to install?

Product lead time is the long pole and it varies by manufacturer and season. We give you the current figure at quote stage and tell you if it moves.

Will you knock on my door?

No. We do not door-knock and we do not cold-call. If someone claiming to be from Helovs is on your step uninvited, they are not from Helovs.

Start with the measure. It costs nothing.
